INSTALLATION
There are two ways of using your Bubba|Two.
- Router / Firewall / Server mode (highly recommended)
- Server mode
Your Bubba|Two has an auto detect function on the LAN port. This means that Bubba|Two will search the LAN for an DHCP server. If a DHCP server is found, Bubba|Two will configure itself to obtain an IP address on the LAN port. If no DHCP server is found, Bubba|Two will fall back to the static IP address 192.168.10.1.
Bubba|Two will obtain an IP address automatically on the WAN port.
Step 1 - Hardware setup
- Choose how to use your Bubba|Two...
- If using Bubba|Two in Router / Firewall / Server mode (recommended): Connect Bubba|Two's WAN port to your incoming internet connection.
- If using Bubba|Two "only" in Server mode: Leave the WAN port unconnected.
- Connect the supplied network cable to Bubba|Two's LAN port and the other end either to your LAN or your PC.
- Connect the 12V power supply to Bubba|Two and wait for the blue led to stop blinking.
Step 2 - Finalizing setup
- Open a browser on your PC and type http://bubba (http://bubba.local if you are using Mac) to reach Bubba|Two's web interface.
- Log in by clicking Administrator in the upper right side using username: admin and password: admin.
- Follow the Setup wizard (also found in the Settings menu, more information in section Setup wizard).
- It is strongly suggested that the admin password is changed. Read about how to change the password in chapter Administrator section 'Users-Edit user'.
- If you prefer to change Bubba|Two's hostname or workgroup, configure your network settings accordingly to chapter Administrator in section Network-Identity.
- Perform a software update to ensure that your Bubba|Two runs the latest software: Click 'Settings' and 'Update', then press 'Update system'.
- All done!
- You should not use the admin account as your personal account.
- If you need support on activating "Obtain an IP address automatically" (DHCP) on your PC read the section DHCP setup on your PC below.
Important - the 'Automatic network settings' profile
- Bubba|Two will by default automatically identify your network structure.
- Bubba will try to use DHCP on the WAN port (internet) and automatically try to retrieve network settings.
- Bubba|Two tires to locate a DHCP server in your LAN.
- If no DHCP server is found Bubba|Two will use the static IP address 192.168.10.1 on the LAN port and start a DHCP server to provide other computers in the LAN with network information.
- If a DHCP server is found in the LAN, Bubba|Two will obtain IP-address automatically on the LAN port.
- Editing the WAN and LAN sections is not possible in this profile.
- Please notice that the administrator log in is by default disabled on the WAN port. To enable this change the Admin account settings by clicking 'Edit user' next to admin under the menu 'Users'.
- If you wish to connect several network devices (computers etc) for sharing the internet connection or media content connect a switch in Bubba|Two's LAN port. Then connect your network devices (computers etc) into the switch.
- If you have a wireless Access Point (or router), you may want to connect this on any of its LAN ports to Bubba|Two's LAN port to use its wireless functionality. Remember to disable any DHCP server in the Access Point/router.
- To learn more about the Router with Firewall functionality read chapter Router & Firewall.
Important - Server mode
- Bubba will automatically try to retrieve network settings on LAN (local network) and the WAN port should be left unconnected.
- If no DHCP server is found in your LAN, Bubba|Two will fall back to the static IP address 192.168.10.1.
- To be able to reach your Bubba|Two from Internet you have to open appropriate ports in your existing firewall. Read about it in chapter Reaching Bubba From Outside section Using Another Firewall/Gateway Than Bubba.
- If moving the network cable from 'Bubba|Two LAN port -> your Internet connection' to 'Bubba|Two LAN port -> your PC LAN port', please wait 30 seconds between disconnecting and connection the cable.
Problem solving
- If no activity at all on the LINK/ACT light on the ethernet port on Bubba|Two, check your cabling.
- If you do not find your Bubba|Two typing http://bubba (http://bubba.local if you are using Mac) try 192.168.10.1.
- If you have changed your network settings on Bubba|Two and no longer can access it, reboot your computer.
- For more information on DHCP and DNS settings read chapter Administrator in section Network-LAN.

In depth technical explanation - Bubba|Two's IP address
All network devices on the same LAN (your computer, Bubba|Two, your home router) needs to have unique IP addresses. And, for them to be able to communicate with each other, they need to have IP addresses in the same IP series, beginning with the same three parts. For instance, two computers with IP addresses 192.168.10.100 and 192.168.10.250 are able to communicate. Two computers with IP addresses 192.168.10.100 and 192.168.1.250 are not.
